The most important learning was the listening is the key to success. In his story there was many a time chance to become biased, and key for me was to be judgment and being curios in his long stories. His story has lot more emotional and underlying belief and to identify them was challenges. To get to open-up I had to work hard to build the rapport. Also, when I started working with him closely, I had to drop of scheduled discussion sessions and had made available to him almost all the time. The bigger message to me was – Coaches are in service business and if you have time constrain and availability issue, it would be difficult to support emotionally charged clients.
