My name is Erin Oke. I’m the Executive Director of the Consciousness Explorers Club, which is a meditation group that was founded in Toronto, but um, especially since the pandemic has gone global. Um, and yeah, I’m also like a private meditation teacher and mindfulness coach. I spent 15 years working with children and youth before this, I ran a youth center for a social service agency for a good decade and a bit, with free after-school programs and camp programs for low-income and at-risk kids and teenagers. And yeah, and then before that, I went to theater school, and I worked in a theater for a while. So, it was yeah -there’s been, you knew, a transition through all those, you know, and the through-line through all those different kinds of parts of the world that I’ve embodied.

In this article Fear vs. Trust, we aren’t talking about fear in the sense of ‘clear and present danger’ (physical danger) – but more in the context of fear of the unknown. We’ll look at how to recognize the fear, root causes, and beliefs and how to help guide a client to ‘the other side of fear’. Ultimately, reframing their mind towards trust– trust in themselves, their ability, and trust that it will all work out how it’s meant to be. In many respects, a little bit of fear in our lives is natural and healthy, and it can help propel a person in a forward direction.

And then followed by a dream job that almost guarantees a wonderful life afterward. Once you embark on this journey, taking every step well designed in advance, nothing needs to be worried and it sounds perfect and fantastical. The fear of falling off this track makes us stay even closer to this route with a fixed mindset and taking definitive procedures to ensure that positive results will happen eventually. This idea also squeezes out the flexibility and space which we can save for ourselves for adjustments and self-reflection and finally pushes us to the corner.
