A Coaching Power Tool By Josh Bolland

The key to moving away from burden vs. load is to look for ways to clarify or alter a client’s understanding or perception of the responsibilities or duties they feel they have to something rather than removing them entirely. Whether they are self- or externally imposed, burdens add weight to a client’s life and prevent them from contributing to and enjoying their community. This overwhelming feeling has an effect on the client’s well-being as well as the community to which they belong. A person can often be burdened by a sense of responsibility or obligation. Coaches can help their clients clarify their thinking, rather than trying to relieve them of any sense of obligation or responsibility.
