What we see vs. what it is. A power tool is a beneficial coaching tool; even so, it is critical to first establish trust and connection with the coachee before introducing this powerful tool. However, as a coach, we cannot apply this tool in the same way to all of our coaches. Because each coachee has unique views and personalities, the use of this more personalized approach is dependent on the coachee and the coaching circumstance. Allow coaches to go through “what it is” by experiencing themselves in their manner when we talk about developing the method we need to move forward in the coachee’s way. Allow some breathing room and set up a welcoming environment for coachees. Look for opportunities to ask bold, open-ended questions that actually allow your staff to express themselves.

After years of avoiding this phobia, as part of my coaching studies, I had the opportunity to face it again. I had to do multiple writing assignments (including this Fear vs. Curiosity), and old fears surfaced in a similar way to when I was a kid twenty years ago. Tension, anxiety, and anxiety are all symptoms of fear. In the end, instead of letting these feelings dominate me, I gave them space and observed them from a curious neutral dimension. Curiosity allowed me to view terror from a new perspective.

The concept of willpower has piqued my interest in recent months. Because of the Coronavirus pandemic, my journey with ICA, my health and well-being, and changes at work, this response has been sharply brought into focus. In all of these changing situations in my life, I’ve realized that willpower, or the lack thereof, plays a significant role in accomplishing a goal, as well as the road taken to achieve it. We all have objectives, some of which are intentionally set with action plans and methods in place to achieve them, and others that are unconsciously brought to our attention as we go about our everyday lives. Willpower dictates whether or not we will follow through for every one of us. I’ve had to rely on my own resources during this pandemic.
