Procrastination is traditionally defined as “putting off intentionally the doing of something that should be done.” One common misconception is that people who procrastinate do so consciously, either out of weakness, laziness, or another character flaw. Chronic procrastinators are often told that the solution to their woes is to adopt the Nike slogan “Just do it! ” Regardless of the reasons, root causes, or psychology behind procrastination, the only real solution is action. When dealing with the emotional pain of persistent procrastination, this fact is easier said than done.
