A Coaching Model Created by Michelle Eiland

The EXCEL Model is a process of self-discovery that enables individuals to be the best they can be for reasons that are important to them.
The model helps drive significant and sustainable business growth by: 1) Going beyond the typical approach of telling the client what they should be doing and why they should be doing it, 2) helping them understand how to do something – on their terms and in a way that they are comfortable, and 3) Leveraging their current strengths and skills to get there.
The EXCEL Model begins by helping the client Explore their business and determine where they want to go. In Explore we focus on key metrics, growth plan, objectives and goals. Once the client has established a starting point, reviewed the gaps between where they are currently and where they want to go, the client can then begin to find the answer, which they already know and are comfortable with to Expand. In Expand we start to brainstorm all the options focusing on leading, leveraging, and developing key team members and/or resources. Once we have established the opportunities available we set off to Create action plans around the ideas discovered that allows the client to determine the What, Who, and When for each to ensure there is a formal plan put into place to establish the desired outcomes in a logical, effective and timely manner. Finally, we determine how the client will Leverage what has been discovered through the process and make certain to establish a “way forward” and an accountability process so not to fall back into old habits. Enabling the client to move towards obtaining objectives in a manner they are comfortable with because it was through their self-discovery and answers.
