Tune In, Tap In, Turn On
This holistic model defines my process of coaching. The process starts with awareness, moves into integration, and culminates in fulfillment. Attention goes first to the heart of the client, where we find the core of motivation that will lay the foundation for work to come. Once the client is clear in their heart about where they are and where they want to be, then resources can be explored and accessed. Throughout the process of exploration and integration, we access both right and left brain processes to insure whole brain thinking, and to open the door to all the client’s resources. Through this whole brain process, we find clarity of purpose and inspired action. The real movement comes when the client engages and aligns heart, mind, body, energy, and spirit to create their dream.
The central themes of this model are letting the heart lead, whole brain thinking, finding the juice, inspired action, and alignment. The process itself brings the client into more self-awareness, and helps them access and engage all of their resources. These two things serve the client beyond the coach/client relationship, and enable them to become more empowered and resourceful in the rest of their life.
Stage One
Tune In
This is about what is, and what the client is feeling in relation to that. Tuning in is a process of becoming aware of your thoughts, your body, your emotions, your energy, and your intuition or soul guidance. The goal is getting present and expressing your authentic truth. This is accomplished by getting out of your head and tuning into what’s real from your heart.
Tap In
This is a whole brain process that explores the client’s motivation and desires. We tap into the right brain to explore longings, needs, dreams, passion, and their deepest “why” or root cause. We tap into the left brain to explore beliefs, perceptions, strengths, values. Personality or other types of self- assessments can be used in this stage, to help the client know themselves better.
Turn On- In this step, there is integration of feelings and desires, and whole brain resources, which brings clarity, purpose and direction. This gives the client inspiration to move forward.
Stage Two
Tune In
This is the point where resistance and self -sabotage usually come in, though they may come up at any point along the cycle and be treated with this step. This is also the time to look at drainers and leaks, in time, energy, emotions, money, and beliefs, along with looking at what needs to be completed or let go of. To remove obstacles and resistance, involves the 3 step process: Tune In- to what’s in the way; feelings and beliefs Tap In –using EFT*, (Emotional Freedom Technique) to clear resistance and fear Turn On- release of resistance, completions, clearing obstacles.
Tap In
This is the stage of inspired action and creation. We tap into the creative power of the right brain with imagination, creative thinking processes, and intuition. We tap into the powers of the left brain through strategy, plans, analysis of right brain information and options, and action steps.
Turn On
In this last step, there is alignment on all levels of being, which results in fulfillment of goals, empowerment of the client, and the ultimate goal of increased joy in the client’s life.
The goal of this coaching model is increased joy and fulfillment in the client’s life. My philosophy is that joy comes through the heart, because that is where the client connects with their authentic truth, desires, passion, and vitality. Whatever dream or goal they have, it is the feeling it will bring them that is their ultimate goal. Each aspect of the client needs to be in alignment and find resonance with their dreams, if they want to bring them into their reality. If anything interferes with the alignment process, it will become clear by going through the two stages of the coaching model. The client is at choice and at cause, every step of the way. The coach is there to support the client’s agenda, and each part of the process helps them increase their ability to discern what they are feeling and what they want.
Tuning into feelings (where you are), is like a GPS starting point. Tapping into what you want, is like the destination you put into a GPS. The rest of the process is like a map to get from where you are to where you want to be. There are many different routes that can be followed, and the client is in the driver’s seat. They set the pace and decide the route. Some like a structured journey, with a definite plan. Others like a meandering adventure, finding joy in the journey, with no particular destination. The coach serves as navigator, by the client’s side, looking out for road hazards and shining a light on the path they have chosen. The fuel for the journey is the client’s desire, inspiration, passion, and purpose. The coach keeps an eye on the fuel level, and helps the client keep their tank full. The client is supported to follow their heart, tap into their inner resources, and turn on inspired action that leads to fulfillment and joy.
I want to acknowledge Christian Pankhurst, (Accelerated Awakening Academy) for his Heart Intelligence model that was my biggest inspiration for this coaching model. His model was greatly influenced by the work of Tej Steiner, creator of the Heart Circle model.
Emotional Freedom Technique is a meridian tapping technique that helps to release unresolved negative emotions that create blockages in the body’s energetic system. Being a Level Two EFT practitioner, I find this is an effective tool that enables the client to release emotional blocks and resistance.
