A) Mission / Purpose
To bring about meaningful, self sustainable change through coaching intervention.
B) Stages
It’s a 6 Session (+ Session 0) transformation plan. While the content at individual stage will be flexible in response to contextual need , broad framework / approach will be as follows .
Session 0 ( Clarity )
Unburden client . Establish comfort , clarity , trust . Ensure that the client understands what is coaching , takes ownership and she / he’s clear about coach’s role , client’s role ( Tool : Contact sheet , YaLen format . Broad sessions plan ) .
Check : Role clarity , rooting of need .
Session 1 ( Commitment )
Agree on coaching needs , deliverables – what , how to measure . Who / how /
frequency of reporting . Confidentiality
Stock taking , through internal feedback . Ensure assimilation , note areas of surprise , help sifting through inputs & reach reconciliation . Check feelings . Assess need for any external ( beyond coaching scope ) help
Check : Client commitment.
Session 2 ( Awareness – Comprehension )
Initiate work with client . Ascertain need for perspective shifting .
Synthesis , catharsis , agreement on ‘ Ground Zero ‘ . ( Tool : SWOT , Johari ).
Identify major situations causing challenge or mental agony .
For each situation have client write down : Pain points , Pleasure points ( from past ) , Opportunity & Threat areas ( for future ) à Develop balanced , positive outlook . ( Tool: Happiness quotient tracker )
Identify need for additional inputs / checks , other tools
Check : Need for additional feedback tools / inputs .
Session 3 ( Custodianship )
Visioning : Start from dream – vision –goal –POA
Goal setting –What , How , How best — POA .Milestones for in between steps . Ensure clarity on ownership – who’s driving it .`
Check : Goal custodianship .
Session 4 (on Course )
Periodic measurement . Meeting of milestones , need to recognize , celebrate small wins . Reinforce importance to be on course via achievements so far . Sense feeling on goal alignment .
Check : Measure , celebrate , reinforce .
Session 5 (Continuation)
Review , clarify . Refine action plan ( course correction ) if necessary . Check on both
HnH ( Head & Heart ) parameters : (i) How Am I doing ,(ii) How am I feeling
Check: ‘ Head & Heart ‘ sync .
Session 6 ( Confidence )
Stock taking for completion v/s goals . ( measure , acknowledge on achievements ) . Review for a potent closure ( self reflection on task accomplishment & drawing out balance POA ) . Agree on any follow through action or any direct involvement of the coach
Check : Client confidence to be on own .
