A Coaching Model Created by Panagiota Aleksiou
(Career Coaching, GREECE)
I always believed that everything is SIMPLE in life. Like the flow of the river among the rocks or the growth of a tree over the years. Everything passes by its evolution to be the perfect step of the “being” of something else, an integral piece of the every moment reality.
So is the shift in our career-life. It’s SIMPLE. And not to be misunderstood! Not easy, just SIMPLE. It needs to be left “alone” to find the path, to reveal the inside needs, reorganize priorities and clarifies what is really important.
We coaches do believe that the answers are within the client. It’s the one who opens oneself in terms of recognizing the core values, the underlying beliefs, the society’s pressure, the willing of others. And then decide what is the wanted outcome and what action must be taken. When the coachee allow oneself to go with the flow of the instinct, then everything become SIMPLE like the blue sky, even in career decision-making.
So is my coaching model – SIMPLE – and the acronym is SIMPLE – what else!

START
Yes! It’s the first simple step, to start.
The coach may talk with the client, state an agreement, go along with what the client refers as a goal, give a welcome-session and the opportunity to recognize the power of coaching in the procedure of starting or changing career . After this, must get to the coaching process, just by signing a contract and then Start!
IDENTIFY
Getting on with the coaching sessions, the coach have to allow the client to bring up the underling beliefs that lead him/her to make the initial choice of a profession. Help the coachee to identify what are the core values that recognize in professional and personal life, and what are the needs to fulfill and the vision to address on. Acknowledging this self-awareness, gives the client the reassurance that it is simple to understand the inner self and follow the instinct.
MINDFULNESS
To make a shift in an existing career the coach will support the client to learn to be mindful of the present situation and understand where are the strengths and what disempowers the will of a change. Talking for clients at the beginning of their professional life, mindfulness will build strong relationships with the existing education, situation and vision. Be mindful of where the coachee stands in the professional field, offers a clarification of existence, and gives a breathe of relief, leaving the unknown weak.
PLANNING
So now, what must be done next. Well, simply plan the action steps. First, second, third, etc., and build a compelling vision of the future. Based on the daily program, free hours, important and emergency issues, the undertaken responsibilities, the client draws a plan. Regarding the final goal and the deadline needed to be succeed, it becomes a time-plan. There, the client have a whole idea of the procedure in changing or starting a career, and can dream of the wanted outcome more fluently.
LEVEL-UP
the results of every step. The coach support the client to put in action, step by step, the drawn plan. In these sessions, there must be a feedback, almost in every step needed to make the shift in the career. Allow the client to give by oneself the report of the taken actions and the outcome after them completed. Level-up results by additional planning, reevaluating action steps, changing whichever needed, until getting an effective review, and satisfaction by all means
EMPOWERMENT
Last but not least, for coaches and their coachees. Having the need of a better career, the client fights with monsters of past situations, transform beliefs, searches for positive alternatives and new strategies, comparing with other professionals. Build a visual image of the client in his/her new career. Keep acknowledging every little effort and celebrate any positive result. Encourage meditation and healthy habit. Let the client feel the power of own decision making and deciding directions, envision all the new possibilities. Make the word “reward” and addition in completing tasks. EMPOWER !
So fellow coaches: Simply trust the procedure, keep a curious attitude and ask powerful questions.
