One of the first things students new to coaching learn is how coaching is different to professions such as Consulting, Training and Therapy. Because although these 'helping' professions do have similarities and compliment each other, they are also quite different in approach, application and certification.

Our School
International Coach Academy (ICA) was created with a vision to change the world one coaching conversation at a time. As pioneers in online learning, our e-learning curriculum was accredited by the ICF back in 2004. We now offer 16 Programs (Level 1 and 2), in 3 languages (English, Chinese and Italian), with a thriving community of coaches in over 126 countries around the world.
Our online learning platform has been purpose built to host the curriculum and resources, with all classes delivered by successful practicing coaches. All programs have a structured curriculum, with the option to take a linear (structured) or intuitive (flexible) approach. You will connect, learn, network and form lifelong friendships.

OUR CURRICULUM
Steering You in the Right Direction
Our Practice-based curriculum gives you a thorough grounding in the latest theories and philosophies of coaching, whilst integrating the skills and concepts into practice with hands on Coaching Demos and participation in a Peer Coaching Program.
The Academic Schedule is structured to give you time for practice and reflection in between classes. That way you can take your new skills, try them out with real clients and then come back for feedback and questions. It is a continuous cycle of growth.

What is your current situation?
When you talk to us this is the first question we will ask you, because where you are now in your career will influence the the type and length of program best suited to you. All our programs have pathways that enable you to commit up front to the full 125 hours of accredited training, or start small and upgrade as you go along.
Where and how will you coach?
Coaching is growing rapidly as both a career in and of itself, but also as a powerful tool for change in a range of workplaces and industries. ICA caters for a broad range of career placements. You might choose to set up your own professional practice, in which case our Business Building resources and Business Labs will support you. You might decide to bring coaching to your workplace; our Group Coaching course will be an additional skillset to add to your portfolio.
Where and how do you want to study?
ICA students have 24/7 access to the ICA Learnsite including learning materials, module downloads, curated resources, class schedules, peer coaching networks, and a private coaches forum with global networks and friendships. There's the choice to fast track or take your time, with morning, afternoon, evening, weekday and weekend classes. You choose what days and times you study. Perfect for people with a busy work or family life.

FlipIt is a coaching tool created by ICA for our student and graduate coaches. It is based on the premise that the way we see our world is a choice. The same event can happen to two different people and they will respond in completely different ways. We teach this framework for change in all ICA programs. COACH CERTIFICATION AND ACCREDITATION

The International Coach Federation is the Peak Body for coaching worldwide. It supports coaches through events, resources and global chapters. It also accredits training programs that deliver coaching education. ICF-accredited education organizations must complete a rigorous review process and demonstrate that their curriculum aligns with the ICF Core Competencies and Code of Ethics.
What is Accreditation?
International Coach Academy (ICA) has been accredited by the ICF since 2004.
The ICF “accredits” programs via an application process that involves rigorous external scrutiny and quality testing. A schools curriculum is mapped across core competencies, with faculty, assessment and learning processes all assessed. ICA is Level 1 & 2 Accredited.
What is Certification?
Professional Coaches hold Certification issued by Accredited Academies.
Certification is a recognized statement of attainment that indicates you have been assessed by a training provider as having the industry recognized skills, knowledge and expertise required to practice as a coach. Your certificate will indicate the level of skill and achievement.
What is a Credential?
Credentials are further attestation of your qualification & coaching competence.
To apply for an ICF credential you must be certified, and you must have a documented number of coaching hours. Certified Coaches can apply for ACC via the Level 1 or 2 track, or PCC via the Level 2 track. A PCC credential must be achieved before applying for MCC.
