Introduction
Have you ever seen the eyes of a child sharing a dream? They are full of life, full of joy, full of desire, full of hope, full of determination. It is beautiful, isn’t it?
In the process of growing up, we have forgotten about our dreams and we don’t even allow ourselves to create new ones. Maybe when we were kids our parents were telling us: “This will never happen”, “Stop dreaming, it’s impossible”, “You can’t do this “and many more words that deeply inside made us believe that dreams are something unreal and imaginary and reality is different and difficult.
With my power tool DREAM vs REALITY, I want to awaken the dreamer inside you and give you the knowledge and the power how to make a dream come true. I want to welcome back that cute child you were, who believed all was possible, in your heart; connect your dream with your brain and start acting on your dream future.
In life, we succeed only when what we feel, what we think, and what we do are aligned.
So, let’s begin with the steps towards your success.
Explanation
Awakening the dreamer
Nothing happens unless first, we dream – Carl Sanburg
In this step I would kindly invite you to take a comfortable position, relax, play some calming music, light up a candle and just breathe.
Now imagine that you had a magic wand and all was possible for you. Imagine a miracle has happened to you. See your dream future in 10 years. See the best version of yourself that you had become at that time.
Once you see every single detail of that dream future, just connect with that feeling. Check what is different there for you, how are you feeling having that life. Connect with that state with every cell of your body and once you are ready, please write every single detail that you have seen on a piece of paper. While doing so, feel it, see it, hear it like it is already your reality.
Important notes when formulating your dream
Write it in a positive form
Many times, in life we focus on what we don’t want and we have difficulties formulating what we really want. So be careful that all your wishes are stated in a positive form.
Be detailed
Be as more specific as you can. A good question that will help you here is: How will I understand that my dream has happened?
What will I see?
What will be different for me?
Why this dream is important for you?
Know your motivation behind the dream. Only when you connect your dream with your values you would be on the right path towards your growth.
The dream needs to be under your control
You must take responsibility for your own wishes or in other words to own that process in moving towards your dream.
Ecologic check
The very important part when you check with yourself once you have accomplished your dream how are you feeling one, two years ahead of time. Because sometimes we want something but we can’t think clearly about the consequences. Here I can give you an example with a client of mine. She wanted to become a CEO and after doing the ecologic check she realized that she would not have that free time for her family and she would lose that balance in life she had till now. So, she changed her mind and decided to work in a different direction.
Needed resources
At this point, you need to check what resources you already have and what you need more of. Those can be people, time, money, information as well as inner resources like qualities and successful strategies.
Risk management
Think about what difficulties might come in the way and what do you need to be prepared to overcome them.
Dreams into goals
A goal is a dream with a deadline and an action plan. Actions are the legs of our dreams. Without them, it would just remain a dream in our minds.
The most important part of the journey is the time to act. It enables you to complete your dream quicker and more efficiently. The distance between your dream and reality is called action.
So, create a clear action plan. Break big tasks into smaller, make them manageable. Don’t forget the deadline. Make your priority list and set your intentions. You can create an action plan for 10 years, 5 years, 3 years, 1 year, 6 months, 3 months, 1 month, weekly, and daily. Those plans will help you keep on track and be always in alignment with your goals and wishes.
And don’t forget to celebrate every step of the journey, because it is not about the final destination but because of who you become on the way.
Conclusion
Here I want to share something with you. Know that Murphy will visit you sometimes in the journey and please do not give up. Confront all challenges, all fears, and do it anyway.
As an ex-cabin crew, I know when the airplane is aiming at a higher altitude there is sometimes turbulence. And I tell you – this is completely fine, it means you are stretching, you are growing. Know that it will pass.
If you find a closed door in the way, look for another one but I beg you never give up. It is all in your hands.
Do not leave this life with the music inside you, share it with other people.
