Connecting with ICA coaches was the number #1 highlight of the conference in Prague for all of us. There is something incredible about meeting up with people who you already know and trust, even if you rarely see them. It reminds me of Steven Coveys book The Speed of Trust. Covey writes about the way high levels of trust make all things happen more quickly. Meetings are shorter and decisions are reached faster because all the relationship building has been done. Imagine that x 100 at an International Conference! ICA coaches greeting each other with open arms from 20 feet away. Conversations being had at every corner of the venue, connections reignited, ideas shared and plans made. Then in addition to the informal connections, we also had a number of ICA Coaches presenting at ICF converge, or being associated in some way. We really are a community of global change leaders…

Rossella Pin and Robyn Logan presented their research on “Language Diversity and Coaching” and ran a workshop on the “Challenges of Language Diversity and the Establishing the Coaching Agreement. The workshop was well attended by a diverse range of coaches, most speaking at least 2 or 3 languages. Together they explored the challenges of coaching in a multilingual environment and identified some possible strategies for making sure language does not get in the way of the coaching agreement or process.

Katerina is a long standing member of the ICA Faculty, she is the leader of our Coaching Program in Greece and also works with leaders and business owners to create healthy workplaces and positive sustainable change. She presented her workshop with Maeve O’Byrne, PCC from Cumhacht Coaching & Consulting. Katerina’s presentation dealt with an increasingly important topic – how can we as coaching use our services for social change. The work Katerina and her colleagues are doing through the not for profit organisation CoachActivism is inspiring.

It was quite a challenge for Lisa to get through her presentation in 30 minutes, but those who attended said she did a great job demonstrating how the old age tradition of story telling can be used for more effective leadership.
