A Coaching Model Created by Leslie Couch
(Business Coach, UNITED STATES)
My coaching model is especially helpful for clients who are frustrated with unmet goals or who have tried and failed to make key positive changes in their lives. The very nature of a goal emphasizes the gap between where one is now and where one wants to be, and can seem beyond reach. In our everyday lives, when something is out of our reach we grab a ladder to break the climb into manageable steps and support us along the way. The ladder, however, can only be effective in supporting us if it has its own means of support.
While there are many, many strategies for achieving success that feature a stepladder approach, I believe the reason that most people fail to reach the desired goal is that the strategies themselves lack a support foundation.
Coaching provides that support. My A+ Coaching Ladder Model combines an effective 4 step strategy with key coaching skills to create a solid foundation to help clients reach their goals.
The CLIENT side of the ladder is a 4 step process that allows the client to be self-directed. The steps are designed to help him get in touch with his true vision; devise a plan to achieve his vision; build a structure for accountability; gain confidence through self acknowledgment; and ultimately achieve his goal. These steps are Awareness, Action, Accountability, and Acknowledgement, and the process is explained below.
The COACH side of the ladder demonstrates how the coach supports the client throughout the climb, primarily with the skillful use of powerful questions, active listening and feedback, clarification and sincere encouragement.
