If the path before you is clear, you are probably on someone else’s.
Life is a journey, a path to finding out what we are capable of, and who we are truly meant to be. And that path is not easy when we have to find our own way; that is why Coaching is so important.
PATH
as a coaching model, was developed from my own personal journey; my education, work history and experiences have empowered me to share this with others and hope they can and will learn with, and from me.
PATH is defined as:
Pause
taking a pause is powerful and integral to our ability to be still and step away from the day to day so that we can REALLY hear and feel what our heart and mind are telling us.
Answer
questions that the coach provides. Questions that we can’t/don’t/won’t ask ourselves but which have revealing truths for our growth and personal reflection.
See the Truth
of who you really are. Recognize, acknowledge and appreciate the truth of your potential, your power and how you are showing up in the world.
WHat
will you do now? Once we know the truth of who we really are, we have the power and the obligation to ourselves, to live into our amazing potential. And that requires action on our part.
Living into our full potential as human beings is a journey – a series of movements from here to there. Sometimes the movements are forward, sometimes sideways and sometimes backwards.
It requires visualization, understanding of what we want the future to be, awareness of where we are now and the determination to make this trip.
This is a choice – one we make willingly and often with some trepidation – who will I be when I get there?
What if I make a wrong turn or get lost?
And what if I never take a step forward – then who will I Be?
Journeys have challenges – there are fog, detours, roadblocks and traffic jams. And the incessant questions along the way.
Coaching provides the road map, the navigation tools, energy to change the flat tire, the voice of reason hearing those noisy questions and moving us to the right answer – sometimes the fork in the road.
There is no age limit to our journeys. Our travels may be short or they may belong. They may be easy or rough. And it’s always our journey – no one else can take it for us. We will become exactly who we want to be when we stop delaying with our questions and concerns and take the first step-with great courage and conviction – even when we don’t have the path mapped out completely.
Coaches ask the best questions at the fork in the road. Coaches help us to hear our own voices. Coaches listen to what isn’t said and then shed that light on our darkness. They help us find our way even when we are not completely convinced; because they trust our instincts even when we don’t.
Coaches don’t tell you what to do. They don’t criticize or direct. They listen to what you have to say about the way things are today, ask you what you’d rather the current situation look like and then ask questions to help you discover for yourself that ideal state. They share observations about what you’ve said because often we don’t / can’t hear our own voices. We don’t hear the real message we want to deliver because we are trying so hard to do it right or well. And having someone whose only interest is in helping us find our power ensures that we WILL be successful on this journey.
And those who are gifted with a coach, find that they weren’t lost – they were just exploring and needed a little assistance getting up the hill to see the amazing vistas awaiting them.
